Episode 130- De-Escalate Conflict Fast with Doug Noll
What if you could calm an angry person in 90 seconds or less?
Conflict is unavoidable, but it doesn’t have to damage relationships, weaken trust, or prevent a team from moving forward. The way you respond during the first few moments of a difficult conversation can make all the difference.
In this episode of How to Become an Obstacle Buster, I talk with lawyer-turned-peacemaker Doug Noll about a practical approach leaders can use to de-escalate conflict quickly and effectively.
Doug explains why traditional active listening may not work when someone is emotionally overwhelmed. Instead of trying to reason with an angry person, he recommends identifying and naming the emotions underneath the conflict. This can reduce tension and create space for a more productive conversation.
